Hi! Nicky here. I’m a red lipstick loving former New Yorker enjoying life in the south. Charlotte, North Carolina to be exact! I love blogging, photography, natural hair, and home decor.

In 2013, I decided to start my natural hair journey. I grabbed a pair of scissors and chopped off all of my relaxed hair.  Shortly after, I created this blog as a platform to help other natural hair women with their natural hair journey. Through blogging and connecting with awesome readers like you, the blog has grown exponentially and for that, I want to say thank you!

In addition to natural hair, NickyAnn.com has now expanded to include lifestyle and home decor content. Here, I’ll teach you how to take care of your hair, inspire you to take care of your home all while rocking some cute outfits too.

  1. Who takes my blog pictures? I work with more than one professional photographer. My son or husband also takes my pictures as needed.
  2. Favorite food? Shrimp pad thai- All day, any day!
  3. Cats or dogs? Nothing against cats, but I am a dog mommy!
  4. Who is my favorite entertainer? Beyonce. Duh!
  5. How long have I been natural? 8 years!
  6. Who do I love spending the most time with? My husband!
  7. Will I ever relax my hair again? Never, ever in life, even if I was offered loads of money to do it. No way.

  1. Nik, I am so incredibly proud of you! You are fearless & brave & I absolutely love this site!! Big things are coming & I’m so happy to follow you on your journey! Lots of love always!!! xoxo

  2. You are so inspiring! Wow. I love your blog and am happy we found each other in this big internet world! I recently chopped my hair off too and completely understand where you are coming from with that. It’s amazing when we finally learn to love the way our hair naturally looks without any pretense. Very beautiful and I look forward to seeing more from you =) P.S. you should consider doing a tutorial on false eye lashes. I cannot for the life of me get my act together with them. They don’t stay on for too long so I know I am doing something wrong 😦

    1. Aw, thank you so very much. I try to be. I find inspiration in many things, and I hope to inspire others. I am glad to have found you too!! It was meant to be. 🙂

So, you chopped your hair off as well? Were you terrified like I was? It is an amazing feeling when you can look in the mirror and just be happy with yourself. Lord knows I have struggled with this, especially when I was in my early 20’s. I felt so, blah! I didn’t like my skinny legs, my skin, my hair. But the older I get, the more I love myself.

Yes! I am considering doing videos. I just got an amazing camera to film with. Lashes at first seem to be hard to learn, but I’m telling you, practice makes perfect. Just like with cooking, right? If they are not staying on for very long, you might need to change the glue that you are using. I use DUO. I posted a picture of it in my recent Va-Va-Voom post. Also, put extra glue on the ends of the lashes. The inner and outer part. Those are the areas that lift easily, so more glue should do the trick. Keep practicing! 🙂
